DESCRIPTION

Instructor for Computer Technology classes. This position reports directly to the Department Head, Computer Technology Programs. This position provides quality learning experience, facilitates the learning process and manages curriculum courses/programs as assigned. Work to begin Fall 2013.

DUTIES

Classroom Instruction
  • Teach all assigned courses, a range of 1 - 15 contact hours, for the full duration of scheduled instruction
  • Ensure that each class session contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency
  • Evaluate student progress and provide appropriate, timely feedback
  • Incorporate appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning
  • Provide and/or facilitate quality experiences in laboratory settings to meet program needs
  • Maintain cleanliness of instructional areas and laboratories
  • Ensure the proper operation of classroom/lab equipment, reporting any malfunctions to the appropriate person(s)
  • Recommend textbooks and other instructional materials, including classroom and laboratory equipment to Department Head
  • Develop and distribute course syllabi according to established template providing appropriate information to students concerning course expectations and evaluation criteria
Divisional Administrative Expectations
  • Prepare and submit instructional records, reports, grades, and all other required paperwork in a timely, efficient manner meeting all deadlines, checking for accuracy, correctness and completeness of all data

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
  • Master's degree in Computer Technology from an accredited institution or a Master's degree in a related technology field with 18 graduate hours in Information Technology
  • Master's degree in Computer/Information Technology from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of two (2) calendar years of experience as a technology instructor
Preferred:
  • Master's degree in Computer Information Technology from an accredited institution
  • Previous teaching experience in Computer Technology or Networking
  • Certifications in IT areas, including Cisco CCNA, Microsoft MCP, MTA/MCSA/MCSE, CompTIA A+, Linux+, Net+, Server+, Security+
  • Experience with current technology, applications, operating systems and hardware
  • Teaching experience in North Carolina at the Community College level
  • Online teaching experience
  • Fluency in a foreign language, preferably Spanish.
