Under minimum supervision, analyze, design, direct and perform the development design, reporting, and maintenance of applications in a primarily Unix/Linux running a relational Informix database environment with a STRONG focus on the University’s Financial Aid department. On a secondary level have interaction on special programming/application requests submitted by University’s Financial Aid department. Provide technical assistance and detailed program documentation on the Student Information System with an emphasis on the Financial Aid sections to Supervisors and other interested parties. Develop the necessary training materials and manuals for Financial Aid as it pertains to the various Information Technology Systems used by Financial Aid.
Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve systems issues.
Lead design sessions in prototyping new systems for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow.
Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
Identify and establish scope and parameters of systems analysis in order to define outcome criteria and measure-taking actions
College diploma or university degree in the field of business administration, computer science, accounting, or management information systems and 5 years related work experience.
Full proficiency with the different Query Tools, like MYSQL, Cognos 8/10, PHP scripting, etc.
Knowledge of the UNIX/HP platform environment preferred
Working knowledge of Linux (SUSE preferred)
Full knowledge and understanding of a Relational Database engine preferred
Proficiency and not limited to the following Programming Languages – PHP ,C, PERL preferred
Proficiency in JAVA preferred
Proficiency in Informix preferred
Comprehension of a Student Information System or related large information system
Trouble shooting abilities and solution offering to complex repots and programs.
Highly self-motivated and directed.

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
