The Sales Specialist is responsible for the initiation and completion of student loan applications for both current and new Sallie Mae borrowers. Leads will be received via inbound and outbound telephone channels and could be new applications or applications with identified "breakages". The specialist will be responsible for following a basic consultative sales call flow, including probing questioning, overcoming objections, and assuming the sale. The specialist must possess the ability to transition a call into a sales opportunity and potentially cross-sell other products or services within Sallie Mae. The specialist is responsible for establishing and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction in all sales transactions. The specialist must consistently meet or exceed weekly/monthly sales activity goals by utilizing sound telephone based selling approaches. A sales mentality is a must to be considered for this opportunity. Following correspondence with a customer, the specialist will appropriately document the call in a Sallie Mae system, as well as a personal tracking spreadsheet. The specialist may handle inquiries from other departments and schools regarding application processing. In addition, the specialist is also responsible for proactively identifying and participating in special projects, leadership activities, identifying opportunities for process improvements, etc. Incumbent may also receive other duties as assigned to meet the goals of Sallie Mae.

  • Monday-Thursday noon-9:00 pm, Friday 11:00 am-8:00 pm
