Job Summary:
The University of St. Thomas Department of Web Designer seeks a versatile Web Designer who can balance their passion for emerging media technologies with the daily demands of a fast-paced team serving the academic and administrative needs of a higher education institution. This person must be able to design, develop and produce digital products and Web sites that creatively and effectively combine more than one medium; text, graphics, video, audio, animation, in a variety of delivery methods; Web, CD-ROM/DVD. This person must also excel at consulting and training faculty and staff on the effective uses of web and media technologies for instructional, informational and marketing needs.

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in design, instructional technology, media production, marketing communications, or related field; 3 years hands-on experience in web, video, media and graphic production tools and techniques; a combination of education and experience is acceptable.

We are seeking a unique mix of experience producing with light programming and scripting (HTML, CCS, DHTML, JavaScript, ActionScript) web development software (i.e. Dreamweaver,) graphics software (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator), digital audio/video processing, editing, encoding, and compression, (Final Cut Pro, AVID) multimedia software (Flash, Director), visual presentation software (i.e. PowerPoint, Camtasia, Captivate), document layout/conversion software (i.e. Adobe Acrobat, Publisher, Quark, InDesign), and familiarity with content management systems (i.e. Collage).

Knowledge of instructional, information architecture, marketing and usability principles is essential and prior work experience in a complex web environment such as higher education is preferred.

Ideal candidate will be customer service and team driven with strong interpersonal skills, experience in project management, strong organizational, and presentation skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The ability to adapt to a rapidly changing rich media field is required.
