The successful candidate will support advisory services in the electric power industry and GE business initiatives related to power systems equipment and services, and provide advisory services to the electric power industry in one or more disciplines. In this role, you will: Essential Responsibilities
Develop and apply detailed market simulation models for the energy industry in support of delivering customer solutions, evaluating impacts of structural changes in electricity markets, evaluating investment opportunities for GE Commercial Finance, and identifying growth opportunities for GE Energy

Conduct power system economic and engineering analysis including: modeling, simulation, and evaluation of design alternatives

Effectively communicate results to both internal and external executives by preparing written detailed and summary reports and making presentations describing analyses performed, solutions developed, and customer value propositions

Participate on solutions project teams by developing projects with customers; actively participate in identifying and cultivating new customers and business opportunities; participate in preparation of proposals customer presentations

Support domestic and international projects across regions depending on overall market needs, and communicate customer needs and values back to GE Energy to support marketing initiatives plus validate products and services offerings including New Product Introductions (NPI)

Monitor power markets for rule changes that may affect generation and transmission asset values and advise clients on expected impacts of those rules, risks associated with them and potential mitigants Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Economics

Minimum of 5 years of post BS experience in one or more of the following areas: electric power systems engineering, energy market design and operations, generation / transmission planning or operations, wholesale power trading, and energy market consulting; resulting in demonstrated ability to engineer cost-effective solutions in a team environment and to provide technical / economic advisory services to customers

Minimum of 2 years of experience with key power system simulation tools including generation production cost analysis and power load flow tools, e.g., MATLAB, PSLF, MAPS, MARS

Minimum of 2 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: energy price trends (electricity and major fuels); Energy and associated ancillary services market rules and practices; current U.S. energy regulations; physical and economic operation of the power system Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. MSEE with Electric Power emphasis or other Advanced degree in the energy field

MBA or advanced degree in Economics

Proficiency with office productivity software e.g. MS Office and database skills (MS Excel, MS Access, Oracle)

Experience with fundamental simulation of the energy market using production simulation software and transmission analysis using load flow software such as GE MAPS, MARS, PROMOD, PLEXOS, PSLF, PSS/e, GridView

Prior work experience related to the following areas: power systems physical and economic operations, generation and transmission planning, energy trading, current energy industry regulations, policies and standards, electricity market design and operation, and generation / transmission asset valuation in regulated and deregulated markets

Industry participation IEEE / CIGRE, ASME, AWEA, PE

Strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as attention to detail

Strong written and oral communication skills suitable for making presentations to internal and external business executives, and for supporting GE executive external communications
