The Marketing Planning Manager position exists to manage, and provide daily oversight for, the allocation of all Focus-internal promotional channels. This position manages and administrates the allocation and tracking for all internal media channels. The role also must maintain strong relationships with all “power users” and those accountable for channels within the ministry, including Focus magazines, Web pages, radio and Internet radio shows, e-newsletters, etc. This position also provides direction and management for all external advertising, including management of Focus’ external ad sales agency.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Assures that internal media capacity is being allocated in a way that accommodates campaign and marketing goals and is in accordance with channel strategy guidelines (e.g., percentage mix of external to internal media)
Aligns promotional messaging with content and product calendars, whenever possible, for optimal impact
Maintains regular, ongoing face-to-face communications regarding media allocation and scheduling with all key influencers (“power users”) in each of the internal media channels to prioritize and coordinate all promotional placements and ultimately to resolve any conflicts that may arise
Manages placement of externally purchased ads, and the agency providing this service
Ensures effective ongoing reporting of advertising and promotions, holding agency – and internal teams – accountable for their roles in this process
Champions internal support (e.g., Ministry Values, Finance, leadership) necessary to achieve annual advertising sales revenue goals
Works with Director to resolve scheduling conflicts/constraints that are the result of unplanned or new activities (e.g., breaking news/cultural events or executive–led initiatives)
Provides oversight of internal and external ads to help ensure promotional goals and internal standards (e.g., Brand, strategy, and orthodoxy) are being adhered to, artfully arbitrating changes when necessary
Maintains a “real time” master calendar of scheduled promotional communications for all internal channels that can be referenced by leadership, marketing, media and all power users; as well as an external media calendar that together gives management a 360-degree view of promotional/advertising communications
Manages allocation of barter space as it arises out of the media team, as necessary
Stays abreast of the people, processes and technologies involved in all of the above activities and proposes fixes when needed

No direct reports, but this position is heavy in people management skills; coordinator function within team supports this role and has dotted-line accountability to this position
Working Environment/Physical Requirements:
Fast-paced office environment with frequently changing priorities; Left-brain, Right-brain split between maintaining a large amount of data and maintaining relationships with an extended team of people across the ministry

Required Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business-related major or equivalent experience; advanced degree a plus
5-7 years relevant business experience; Media/Advertising Agency experience helpful
Thorough knowledge of entire creative and production process

The starting salary for this position is $4,365 per month.
