We are seeking a full time Intake Coordinator to join our Insurance billing team based out of our Carlsbad, CA location.

This position is primarily responsible for the intake of newly referred accounts and patients in a manner that ensures the company receives appropriate reimbursement for authorized services provided to patients. This position interacts with case managers, third party administrators, payer representatives, patients, customer care representatives and sales representatives.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Coordinate the intake and clearance of new referrals; procure financial, insurance and demographic information from the patient and/or referral source.

Verify primary and secondary insurance benefits and prescription card coverage(s), track all new referrals and distribute information with timely updates to appropriate staff.

Notify patients of eligibility and benefit verification information.

Ensure that any required patient service authorizations are secured prior to shipment.

Proactively and continuously pursue required payer clearance information through all levels of payer administration/management until desired results are reached, including verification of in/out of network benefits, related coverage’s and reimbursement allowables.

Place order for shipment once benefits have been verified and patient has been contacted.

Create reimbursement intake sheets for new patients, enter and update intake information into billing system, provide effective documentation notes and prepare routine reports for Manager as requested.

Contact referral sources to advise of referral status, and provide to the clinical team who will deliver the services requested.

Access national or regional account information, including the names of accounts and terms of the contracts as appropriate and communicate these conversations to branch and intake department staff as needed. Work with Intake team, branch staff, and patients to identify potential solutions as problems are identified with payer sources.

Requirements:
High school diploma and a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a medical reimbursement field, preferably as an intake coordinator or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Experience should include knowledge of reimbursement principles, payer groups and networks including Medicare, worker’s compensation and private insurance.

Must have the ability to exercise independent judgment, creatively solve problems and maintain patient confidentiality.

Must have a strong knowledge of medical terminology and a customer service focus.

Excellent communication skills are required for this position as well as accurate data entry and word processing, problem-solving, human relations, and oral/written communications skills
