We are looking for a Senior Internal Controls Specialist to join our Internal Audit Division. Basic duties include administering the process for assessing internal controls over financial reporting. This includes maintaining documentation of business processes and key internal controls, assigning and evaluating tests of controls and following up on control deficiencies to ensure compliance with insurance regulatory requirements. Essential Job Functions: Maintains current process documentation and key internal controls over financial reporting. Performs ongoing assessments of key risks related to safeguarding of assets and financial reporting. Performs ongoing evaluation of the design of internal controls and administers test plans. Partners with the business areas to assess the effectiveness of key internal controls. Assists in assessing the impact of control deficiencies and developing remediation plans. Monitors management's progress in implementing plans for remediation. Assists in ensuring quality and time expectations are being met. Completes internal control documentation relating to new areas. Maintains excellent working relationships with business unit management. 3-5 years of Internal audit or public accounting experience required Bachelor's degree Knowledge of internal control objectives and processes required Knowledge of financial reporting a plus Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills Strong analytical, decision-making and judgment abilities Strong oral and written communication skills Additional Preferred Qualifications: Prior internal controls over financial reporting experience CPA or CIA designation Knowledge of insurance operations and statutory accounting principles Physical Requirements for the Essential Job Functions: Key-boarding/Writing/Pinching (working primarily with fingers) 1-33% of the time Handling (working primarily with hands such as grasping, turning, sorting) 1-33% of the time Sitting 34-66% of the time Confinement to work areas 1-33% of the time Standing/Walking 34-66% of the time Bending/Stooping 1-33% of the time Talking (required use of voice) 34-66% of the time Near Vision - Visual Acuity at 20 inches or less 34-66% of the time Far Vision - Visual Acuity at 20 feet or more 34-66% of the time Hearing 34-66% of the time Mutual of Omaha is an Equal Opportunity Employer
