Job Summary:
Akimeka, LLC is searching for a talented Oracle developer/DBA to support a US Government Joint Medical Logistics project. As a member of the database team this individual will assist in developing and maintaining Oracle 11g databases. This candidate will develop, sustain, and maintain the database stored procedures, functions, and triggers, perform database administrative tasks, head up data migration efforts, improve data load processes, optimize developer queries, conduct complex database queries, create customer reports, conduct data analysis, and effectively present/explain resulting reports to customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Not listed in order of importance; other duties may be assigned)

Oracle Development (60%)

Strong Oracle database development abilities (PL/SQL, SQL)

Experience writing complex SQL

Performs analysis, design and code walk through

Good SQL and database performance tuning experience

Creates database designs that meets customer requirements and company standards

Develops and execute quality control processes to tune data models and SQL code

Comprehensive knowledge of data integration, data quality, multi dimensional design and ETL tools and processes

Experience in the use of Oracle database utilities and replication technologies

Familiarity with all stages of the SDLC

Oracle Database Administration (40%)

Installs, configures and upgrades Oracle Servers.

Reviews database development activities to assure conformance with design specifications

Analyzes and implements data security requirements

Participates in setting and exercising database standards, guidelines, and procedures

Prepares work plans and time/cost estimates for development of proposed databases

Participates in the evaluation, selections and implementation of software products

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelors Degree required in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent

3-5 years working in field

Equivalent combination of knowledge and specialized experience may be acceptable in lieu of a degree.

DoD Experience desired

Government contract may require person to possess proof of U.S. citizenship

Knowledge:
Federal/DoD programming or project exposure

Experience with Oracle Warehouse Builder and/or Oracle Data Integrator

Experience using Oracle Data Guard to do database replication and disaster recovery

Experience assessing impacts of legacy systems and addressing data related problems of system integration and compatibility

Experience defining an overall data architecture as it relates to task goals during the analysis, design, planning phases and implementation of each project.

Experience developing applications used on the project.

Strong knowledge of Oracle 10g Database Development, PL/SQL, and SQL.

Capable of Optimizing Oracle Database and Tuning Queries/Processes

Strong working knowledge on Microsoft Office Tools

Strong documentation and reporting background

Strong self-starter requiring minimal supervision

Strong problem-solving skills

Strong verbal and written communication to effectively express concepts, plans, and proposals

Able to take proactive measures to prevent problems rather than reactive by nature

Clearance:
Applicants may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None for this position.
