Starting with job offers dated February 1, 2012 and after, Geisinger Health System will no longer hire applicants who use tobacco products, including cigarettes, cigars and chewing or smokeless tobacco. Applicants will be screened for nicotine as part of the pre-employment physical process. Nicotine will be part of the urine drug screen. Applicants who test positive for nicotine will not be offered employment. Applicants who test positive may re-apply for jobs with Geisinger in six months.
Responsible for providing front-line office support for the department or clinic. Responsible for patient check-in and discharge, providing direction as appropriate. Provides clerical support to the medical staff as necessary.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Health System in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
Works under the supervision of the Careworks Business Manager.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrates competence in written, oral and electronic communication skills.
Demonstrates intermediate typing, keyboarding and Internet navigation skills.
Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology, insurance referral and pre-certification processes, coding, EPIC applications, IDX and SMS.
Demonstrates intermediate office skills.
Demonstrates ability to work independently, set priorities, multi-task and provide problem resolution.
Demonstrates competence in customer service skills.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED and minimum of one (1) year previous front-office experience in a medical setting preferred.
Successful completion of Key Access Personnel (KAP) training during orientation period.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in an office or clinical environment.
