An OVR career counselor provides career counseling and guidance to consumers seeking employment. The counselor also serves as key employer relations representative of the agency to develop job opportunities with potential employers.
Minimum Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- American Sign Langage (ASL) skills are required
Minimum Experience Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in related field is required
- Three years of related work experience in career planning, counseling or related field is required.
Education can substitute for experience but experience cannot substitute for education.

- Broad working knowledge of the potential job market. - Broad working knowledge of appropriate degree requirements and relevant work experiences required by employers - Customer and Personal Service - Working knowledge of Personnel and Human Resources principles. - Working knowledge of applicable employment laws and other regulations to include ADA, EEO. - Expert knowledge of computer software skills such as Office Suite2000, PDT/Adobe and database management - Assessment Techniques - Knowledge of EKU Programs is desired - Master's Degree is preferred.
