Pioneer seeks a creative, customer-focused and motivated individual to join a team dedicated to the development, integration, maintenance and support of laboratory automation and custom engineered solutions for Pioneer s Crop Genetics Research & Development laboratories worldwide. The qualified candidate will, research, propose and provide solutions, design, commission, and maintain mechanical and electromechanical laboratory automation instrumentation for the Research analytical laboratories. The Sr. Automation Engineer will work on a team to provide technical expertise and practical engineered solutions. You must have excellent communication skills and be able to lead and coordinate multiple projects, articulate technology and product capabilities, and work on cross-functional teams that consist of business stakeholders, internal

team members, and outsource vendors.

Desired skills for this position include demonstrated work experience in the areas of automation instrumentation, software development, and mechanical and/or electrical equipment development related to lab automation processes. The candidate will design, modify, integrate and support, off the-shelf and customized laboratory instruments and equipment for biotechnology and analytical focused research. Technical knowledge or experience in the areas of laboratory automation and robotics, software development for instrument control, mechanical systems, programmable logic controllers (PLC) and other electrical control systems, is important. Examples of systems range from small instruments built from scratch to massive systems resulting from the integration of a number of pieces of robotic instrumentation. Will consult with other Automation Engineers and Lab Staff to identify and analyze automation needs, program instruments and systems, design and draw parts in 3D CAD software, machine parts, gather feedback from systems users and strategize modifications with scientists and other engineers, coordinate testing of new systems with technology development staff and end-users, and coordinate run and maintain efforts of current systems.
