The Senior Scientist (SS) is a critical component of a multi-disciplinary team that is studying the structural biology of the virulence of group A Streptococcus pyogenes, a bacterial strain that infects 700M people worldwide, annually. In this position, the applicant will have a responsibility for structural aspects of this project and study the binding of ligands to virulence proteins with the aim of construction of effective vaccines. The individual will also assume a role in training undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers, and will be expected to develop a line of research in this area that will lead to grant applications.

There is a preferred candidate for this position.

Minimum Qualifications
Ph. D. in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
Candidate must be experienced in techniques in DNA and RNA processing and protein purification/quantification. All aspects of high resolution NMR for protein and protein-ligand structure and dynamics are required. Methods for stable isotopic labeling of recombinant proteins also a requirement for the position. Successful candidate must be capable of passing appropriate compliance-related trainings including radioisotope, biohazard, and general lab safety.
