ACI Worldwide is looking for a Senior Information Developer (ID), who will be responsible for producing user assistance on a product line or lines.

Responsibilities
* Creates user assistance according to product specifications in a formal project-based software development environment
* Acquires, organizes, and researches functional requirements, technical design specifications, interface designs, and other materials, to assess impact on user assistance independently
* Identifies content improvements based on product strategy and market trends
* Elicits ID requirements, evangelizes user needs, and communicates stance on ID issues
* Drives communication with subject matter experts, cross-functional team members, clients, and users
* Reports progress toward milestones to the project’s User Experience (UX) Lead and ID Manager
* May function as a UX Lead on projects, facilitating involvement of ID, training, and UXD team members in producing user-focused deliverables
* Facilitates contributions to UX specifications and planning (user research, task analysis, estimates)
* Co-ordinates and conducts user research
* Conducts documentation reviews with project leads and subject matter experts
* Adheres to schedule, task, and quality guidelines of projects
* Provides peer editing for other IDs, primarily as a form of coaching
* Oversees the work of lower-level IDs, driving accountability in the team
* Maintains established styles and standards in all deliverables and initiates new standards and team processes

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

10% of time: Co-ordinate and conduct user research to develop the most effective user assistance.
25% of time: Work with cross-functional teams to translate business needs and user research data into user assistance requirements.
50% of time: Develop user assistance, including but not limited to: online Help, embedded Help, user and reference documentation.
5% of time: Coach lower-level IDs.
10% of time: Participate in division’s transformational roadmap activities.

Contacts

Internal contacts include other Information Developers, Business Analysts, Product Managers, Developers, Architects, Customer Support, Learning Services, User Experience Designers, QA, etc.
External contacts include clients, end-users, agency-based participants for user research, etc.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Standard office environment.

50% of time spent keyboarding
25% of time spent interacting with subject matter experts and internal/external contacts
25% of time spent interacting with software builds
0 - 5% travel

Education/Experience (Minimum)

* Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical/Professional Communication, Information Science, Journalism, or related field, plus formal training/education in Technical Writing, Content Strategy, Information Science, Information Architecture, or Human Factors/User Experience
* At least 5 years of experience working as an ID in a global, fast-paced software development organization
* Project or academic work that demonstrates skills in and understanding of user-centered user assistance

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with aggressive deadlines, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and be a self-starter
* Background in banking, financial services, or e-commerce software is preferred
* Thorough understanding of information development concepts
* Thorough understanding of language usage and style guide conformance
* Thorough understanding of task-based user assistance
* Thorough understanding of topic-based authoring; DITA XML experience helpful
* Ability to interpret product requirements documents from a user-centered perspective vs. a feature-centered way, and to understand the user’s perspective
* Expertise with standard authoring tools, such as MS Word, Adobe RoboHelp, Adobe FrameMaker etc.
* Effective written and oral communications skills, to articulate ID concepts authoritatively and communicate effectively with colleagues, including technical staff and management
* Experience with software development concepts and SDLC methodologies, such as agile and waterfall development
* Understanding of project management and business process management concepts
* Ability to lead ID effort through the product life cycle
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
* Experience mentoring and coaching ID colleagues
* Ability to quickly learn business application or product being developed, and to influence design of product based on knowledge of usability
