Position Title: Production Maintenance Technician
Work Schedule: Varied
Identify, repair, maintain and perform routine preventative maintenance on the following as applicable and to assure safe working conditions:
Machines, mechanical equipment, building equipment, electrical, electronics, pneumatics, computer systems, plumbing, overall building.
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or part catalogs, as necessary.
Verify, revise and update mechanical, electrical and electronic, facility and building blueprints or drawings.
Evaluate the materials inventory needed for particular jobs and recommend purchases.
Record information on work orders and jobs in department logs.
Clean and organize shops and all work areas.
Timely respond to production issues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Working Conditions:
Standing 45% of shift, walking 50% of shift, sitting 5% of shift
Climb stairs, ladders, lifts & production equipment to repair or install parts
Repair production equipment or facility by bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling to reach necessary parts
Reach above head to repair production-related facility and building equipment and use hands to grasp, turn or push/pull parts for repair and/or installation
Listen for equipment problems by identifying unusual noises or inappropriate machine sounds
Read schematics, drawings and manuals for instructions and visually check equipment for safety or proper operations
Demonstrate safe and proper use of safety equipment, tools, and machinery
High school diploma or equivalent
Basic computer skills
4 - 5 years previous experience in maintenance repair and installation
Journey-level maintenance experience only; printing plant experience helpful
Troubleshooting experience in deadline situations
Mechanical & Electrical aptitude and manual dexterity
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repairs, and maintenance
