Web Software Programmer is responsible for all facets of the delivery, design & development of web applications. This person will need to: (i) design & develop code that is solid, clean, maintainable & understandable, (ii) understand how to develop & enforce coding standards & source code development standards, (iii) be able to comprehend the SDLC model & what their specific activities are in designing & then delivering a solid, hardy application, (iv) design, develop & implement solid test plans to accurately test the application code, functions, modules & program, & (v) design & maintain comprehensive & accurate documentation per all project standards.
Core Job Responsibilities : Develop, design, & deliver applications to include: code development that meets & surpasses the intent of the design of the application, design & development of source code & test plans, development & testing, application debugging, design & implementation of code that adheres to efficient design techniques & code & module design. Work within a team of developers to successfully meet the deliverables & schedule of an intricate software development project. Offer support to multiple business & technology teams as necessary during delivery to ensure solid, accessible & robust solutions. Be able to plainly communicate complex technical designs & solutions in easily readable, clear & succinct formats by both technical & non-technical personnel. Communicate effectively in both verbal (i.e. daily discussions, team meetings) & written (requirements & design specifications) form, as well as have an overall ability to be lucid & succinct in all communications. Precisely track & manage project time information, task, documentation, & activity as necessary. Accurately evaluate the risks associated with each solution design / project. Support the development of team members from a technical & professional level. Capable of travelling as necessary. Required Skills & Abilities:
Thorough functional understanding of the application development & design processes, methodologies & their direct implementation to application projects with a web application. Effective code debugging & testing skills, programming, code development, troubleshooting skills & experience within a web environment & multi-tiered architectures. Experience with unit testing using tools such as NUnit & profiling tools such as Ant Profiler. Experience with MVC architecture. Javascript programming & unit testing. HTTP Protocol fundamentals (i.e. proxy caching, headers, cookies, browser) Web client performance enhancement (i.e. YSlow, page load, Google page speed) Non jquery Javascript framework knowledge (or jquery plugin creation). Backbone, Knockout or other design pattern implementations helpful. GWT, Google charting, YUI (widget creation a plus). Web internationalization / globalization experience. CSS 3 (i.e. responsive design, media queries) & HTML 5 (i.e. web sockets, workers). Progressive enhancement / graceful degradation. Strong decision making & problem solving skills (i.e. testing, design & debugging) Superb English communication skills & the ability to understand & articulate complex topics. Proven leadership & attention to detail skills through former experience at the tactical / implementation levels. Ability to educate, mentor & train personnel (i.e. software developers) within a technical organization.
Education / Experience:
BS degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related field. 5+ years of experience in software development using object-oriented languages. 3+ years of experience in web software development. Relevant combination of education & experience.
Preferred:
Experience with graphical user interface design / development.
