Lean Six Sigma Black Belt

will facilitate cross-functional expert teams to drive breakthrough or Best-in-Class performance in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost metrics.

Attends required training and acquires needed skills. (Six Sigma, Lean & Kepner Trego)

Reviews BBP metrics and best practices from across the organization, to deploy at other locations. Facilitates "Recognize & Define" events with champions, process owners, and staff to generate new project opportunities.

Mentors champions and process owners in effective project SOW creation. Coaches them in problem solving methods.

Identifies key "expert" individuals for team membership and secures their approval to become active team members.

Provides Lean or Six Sigma training to project team members. Assigns tasks to accomplish team goals.

Applies Lean or Six Sigma tools and techniques to measure, analyze, improve and control project processes.

Reports on project progress to champion and other appropriate leadership levels, at least on a monthly basis.

Prepares detailed plans to track project performance and assure timely completion and achievement of stated project goals. Uses project management techniques to do so.

Identifies hindrances to project success and solicits help from champions when needed.

Prepares and presents top projects in Regional Reviews.

All other tasks as assigned, including, but not limited to supporting the function and responsibilities of the Continuous Improvement organization, and promoting the CI culture throughout.



The ideal candidate would have 6-8 years of Manufacturing Engineer experience. Either ME, IE, or EE, with some exposure to Lean and Six Sigma. This position provides the opportunity to expand your Lean and Six Sigma knowledge by attending Lean and Six Sigma training as well as becoming certified in both.


Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent combined education and experience.

A minimum of two years experience in Continuous Improvement, or in a Manufacturing and Engineering environment.

Experience in a Metal Working/Fabrication Environment preferred (Stamping, Press Brakes, Turret presses, Assembly, Brazing)

Demonstrated effective leadership and program management skills.

Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and the ability to exercise influence without authority.

Behaves with initiative, the desire to drive change and is motivated to exceed expectations.

Able to drive change and complete project level assignments with little direction.

Possesses exceptional computer skills (MS Office suite and general computer operation) experience with MS Access and Minitab applications is a plus.

Can communicate effectively at all levels.

Regarded as objective, open-minded and an “out-of-the-box” thinker.
