PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for providing expertise in the administration of all aspects of the established occupational health program for the purpose of promoting a well-planned and cost effective health program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent is responsible for providing rotating shift (24 hr/day, 365 days/yr.) medical coverage for all employees at the Mobile facility. The health program includes:
The health program includes administering and interpreting health surveillance testing, implementing emergency and general nursing care based upon assessments and nursing diagnoses determined by the incumbent’s skills and experience, performing case management of employees on medical leave to assess and facilitate their return to work, providing health education topics as outlined and providing medical information to management on employee health matters.
Other specific responsibilities are:
Performing nursing assessments and implementing care on all Mobile site employees based upon current medical standards established in the Alabama Code of Nursing and Evonik Degussa Medical protocols for the purpose of determining the scope of the occupational health promotion and health screening programs for employees. Accountable for being trained and prepared to respond to medical and chemical emergencies for approximately 1000 employees and contractors in an area which encompasses approximately 23 different chemical production processes.
REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires a Registered Nurse licensed in the state of Alabama with a minimum of 5 years experience of nursing experience with 3-5 years experience in critical care or emergency room nursing and must possess the demonstrated ability to perform in an autonomous manner and make independent assessments utilizing this judgment. A candidate with a BSN is preferred. The incumbent must also maintain certifications required to practice in the field of OHN at Evonik Degussa. Certifications preferred are: Audiometric Technician, Pulmonary Function Technician, ACLS Certification, BCLS Instructor Certification and EMT-B Licensure (or an equivalent of a First Responder certification).
