We are seeking an exceptional Front End Developer for a full-time staff position. The ideal candidates will be innovative, self-motivated, a quick study, and willing to develop new skills while constantly improving existing abilities. The candidate must also be a strong multi-tasker with exceptional time-management skills. In this position, you will work closely with the core sites development team to build the front and frameworks for our 27 websites and 40 mobile and tablet apps.
The technology department is an established organization which runs a cutting-edge open source stack, develops locally on Mac hardware, and controls our versions with Mercurial. Our front end code is developed in shared libraries, so your commit may be powering a dozen or more sites very quickly. We expect great code but we also have the supportive environment that allows our employees to create it.
General responsibilities could include:
⢠Expertise in HTML, CSS, and cross-browser layout issues
⢠Awareness of the issues involved when creating shared code
⢠Experience writing code for humans, not just machines
⢠Experience with a server side framework and page templating (JSTL, .NET, RoR, etc.)
⢠Experience with version control (DCVS such as Git or Mercurial ideal)
⢠Ability to consider and judge multiple approaches to a problem
⢠Ability to mentor junior team members
The ideal candidate will be innovative; interested in applying new techniques and design patterns, but also fluent in current best practices and standards. He/she will be an engineer who takes pride in writing reusable code with an emphasis on quality over quantity.
Please include your resume, cover letter, favorite development quote, and live code examples with your submission.
Duties and responsibilities may be adjusted based on years of experience.
Salary is also commensurate with experience.
