The College of Law is a self-contained academic unit of a flagship land grant university. The College of Law is a medium-sized law school, with just over 400 full-time students and approximately 30 full-time faculty members. The College of Law is large enough to have a diverse and interesting curriculum, yet small enough to foster friendly relationships among students, faculty and administrators.

The Director of Admissions supervises admissions/recruitment/financial aid staff and ensures overall management and functions of the admissions/recruitment/financial aid office for the College of Law. This position recommends admissions policies and enrollment goals to the Dean and the Faculty Admissions Committee; reviews admissions files and makes admissions decisions as a member of Admissions Committee; counsels candidates for admission and meets with admitted candidates; corresponds with candidates and analyzes admissions data. This position also manages new student orientation with oversight by the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.

The Director of Admissions also recruits highly qualified and diverse candidates for admission. This person travels on behalf of College for approximately two months of the year for the purpose of recruiting students, designs recruitment efforts and oversees design of recruitment materials, drafts correspondence and emails to potential candidates, meets with potential candidates, presents programs on admissions at several in-state and out-of-state undergraduate schools, and holds at least three recruitment events at the College each year. The Director also oversees social media by the College as appropriate in its recruitment efforts.

As a part of the financial aid function, the Director oversees dissemination of scholarship awards for admitted students and is an ex-officio member of the Faculty Scholarships and Honors Committee. The Director recommends scholarship policies and award structure to the Dean and the Scholarships and Honors Committee, reviews admitted candidates for merit and diversity scholarship awards, interviews candidates for major scholarship programs, drafts scholarship correspondence, manages scholarship accounts and analyzes scholarship data. The Director also counsels students on personal and financial aid matters and serves as liaison with the main campus Student Financial Aid office.

A Juris Doctorate degree is required for this position along with 5 years of paid, full-time professional level employment in education, admissions, recruitment, client relations and/or law. The qualified applicant will also possess excellent presentation, leadership, analysis, and organizational skills; exercise good judgment along with creative solutions; and pay attention to detail. Experience working in higher education, student advisement, and with scholarship programs is also beneficial to this role.
