Verifies accuracy of health claim number that claimed amounts are authorized, and that items of service billed are allowed by controlling guidelines.
Maintains a general ledger of accounts receivable and overall controls for reimbursement accounts.
Performs daily, monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliation and recapitulation of the Medicare/Medicaid suspense accounts to assure that collections and billed data reports are balanced.
Maintains filing system which includes Third Party documents, remittance advises and transmittals from Third Party payers.
GS-5: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level, or 4 years of education above high school.
Specialized Experience: For GS-5 level, you must have at least one year of specialized work experience performing accounting and/or related support duties in billing and collections.
Combining Education and Experience: A c ombination of post high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the GS-5 grade level.

TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT : Federal status applicants must have completed at least 52 weeks of service in a position no more than one grade lower than the position to be filled. Time-in-grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan.
