Engineer I or Engineer II or Distribution Engineer depending on experience.
The incumbent is an individual contributor involved in existing and new facility design and planning within Gas Operations. The incumbent is also involved in field decisions for the installation/construction of gas facilities.
Prepare design drawings for the fabrication and installation of distribution and transmission facilities
Prepare parts lists and bill of materials
Prepare cost estimates
Evaluate and select optimum design alternatives
Perform preliminary engineering necessary to investigate new projects
Assess the need for facility replacement and modification of gas facilities
Utilize project planning and monitoring methods to ensure timely completion
Write technical instructions and prepare maintenance plans
Review project files and system facilities to conform to MAOP guidelines
Develop and maintain comprehensive filing system for retention
Monitor code compliance and other regulatory requirements
Review internal and external design drawings
Effectively communicate with both internal and external customers
Act as a liaison with various governmental agencies
Must have knowledge of gas distribution design, business management, applicable codes and regulations, construction methods, materials and equipment, operation and maintenance of a gas distribution system, design, installation and maintenance practices. Must have the ability to communicate with government agencies and all levels within the organization; maintain facility maintenance records, and establish maintenance practices and schedules. Must have experience with general construction methods and computers. The incumbent must be available for on-call responsibilities which may include evenings, weekends and holidays, if required.
Engineer I - Requires a Bachelors Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent degree. Relevant work experience is preferred.
Engineer II - Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering and one to three years of engineering experience. Relevant work experience is preferred.
Distribution Engineer - Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering and three to five years of engineering experience. Relevant work experience preferred.
