Description
The Architecture Governance team manages the IT Standards lifecycle for American Express Technologies (AET). The team provides oversight of all IT Standards, Policies, and Procedures. We guide Standard Owners through their annual refresh process, while providing consultation to other AET partners on Standards additions, changes, etc.

The Lead Technical Architect partners closely with AET standard owners, CISO, Technology Contributor Network, and all AET teams seeking assistance with Standards adherence, creation, risk mapping, and paths to compliance. The role will also support Solution & Architecture Governance (SAR) and help shade the Governance roadmap. The LTA is responsible to ensure that our stakeholders receive the necessary guidance and support to comply with AET Policy.

* Responsible for the communication of schedules, roles, and completion steps associated with each IT Standards
* Provides interval reporting to AET leaders with each Standards refresh cycle
* Provides initial consulting for all Standards related queries, including Strong Recommendation closure from SAR reviews
* Develops strategic roadmap for IT Standards
* Defines plans from opportunities and finds ways to improve the status quo
* Collaborates internally as well as across multiple cross-functional teams to skillfully execute on milestones and deliverables in a timely manner
* Interface extensively with application development and technology partners, as well as working in close partnership with CISO

Qualifications

* Exhibits knowledge across multiple technical environments, reference architectures, and IT Strategies
* Experience developing and implementing standards and management frameworks
* Familiar with architecture frameworks such as TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework)
* Strategic thought leadership and ability to translate strategy into actionable plans
* Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
* Self starter and confident decision maker
* Ability to navigate through ambiguity and set clear direction to initiatives/strategies undertaken while gathering feedback to ensure stakeholders approval

* Escalates issues and risks in a timely manner to the appropriate leaders, and ensure all standards owners understand their responsibilities
* Excellent communication skills, ability to present to multiple levels of leaders on Standards, Policy, and Governance

* Proficient in software development life cycle, including code review practices, and release management practice
* Demonstrated competence in designing, delivering, maintaining enterprise applications
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to drive and develop solutions without leadership oversight
* Understanding of industry trends and tools
* Familiar with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) best practices
* Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, or other related field and/or has equivalent work experience
