PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS: This position is responsible for reviewing insurance applications in all product lines for insurability and compliance and reviews requirements to evaluate risk in conjunction with established guidelines for acceptance or declination. Primarily evaluates insurance applications, approving or rejecting applications up to $50,000 ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and specific state requirements. Maintains working knowledge of underwriting guidelines, MIB, Rx database, and product lines including Life, Medicare Supplement, Dental, Disability Income, and other miscellaneous products. Reviews and conducts telephone interviews with potential policyholders as required. Responds to pre-qualification calls from agents and replies to declination inquiries using established procedures. Completes risk referrals, providing approval and/or feedback, and documenting quality assurance results. Refers all counter-offer or declines to Chief Underwriter for review. Reviews RX database results, determines if additional information is required by completing a phone interview. Review previous policy history and order ICD9 codes if applicable. Review phone health interview or conduct phone interview if deemed necessary. Review replacement forms, verify correct. Review Life Cash Values against published chart for accuracy. Review pending files for outstanding requirements. Completes the Medical Terminology course for certification. This is company provided. Review/work Life applications with face amount $50,000 and over. Review Life replacement for suitability. Refer medically decline recommendations to the Sr. Underwriter or Chief Underwriter. REQUIREMENTS: Completes the Medical Terminology course for certification. This is company provided. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 12 months experience in the insurance industry, with 6 to 12 months underwriting experience required. LOMA and/or AHOIP insurance designations preferred. LOCATION: Pensacola HOURS: Full time PAY RATE: TBD
