This role is responsible for leading, developing and executing the global government affairs strategy for the Renewables business.

Essential Responsibilities

Lead Global Government Affairs team to:
Develop policy positions drawing on a deep understanding of business priorities

Engage with government officials at all appropriate levels to ensure that the Renewable Energy point of view is taken into account as governments consider policies, laws, and regulations

Identify at an early stage, quantify and prioritize emerging regulations and legislation that will affect Renewable Energy and ensure business awareness of the potential risks and benefits

Support sales to governments by helping sales teams tailor bids to government needs, marshaling government support and advocacy for GE’s bids, and utilizing governmental financing

Participate in trade association meetings and drive trade activity on priority issues

Responsible for coordinating strategic policy campaigns

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree & Master’s Degree

Minimum 15 years of experience working with government stakeholders in leading & shaping policy

Minimum 10 years of experience leading teams

Minimum 5 years of experience w / electricity, renewable energy, environmental and energy infrastructure policy

Desired Characteristics

Understanding of United States and global governmental policy development and decision-making processes, including the ability to identify and provide input to key decision makers,

Demonstrated ability to develop and execute comprehensive strategies to lead and shape complex legislative or regulatory issues.

Successful experience working on U.S. and global government affairs and industry-related issues, ideally in government as well as in the private sector

Commitment to conducting GE's business affairs with the highest integrity, including strict adherence to applicable laws and GE's values, which often go beyond mere legal compliance

Demonstrated strategic thinking, including experience prioritizing conflicting demands from multiple business entities in an extremely fast paced environment

Demonstrated orientation towards business growth

Substantive understanding of key energy issues – recognized for this expertise within government and industry

Strong interpersonal skills

Proven thought leader on issues and active participant in project teams

Goal orientation and a high degree of personal initiative

Strong oral and written communication and advocacy skills

Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Ability to influence and lead in a matrix organization

Experience leading and developing teams
