The Operations Department Head is responsible for operation and performance of Chocolate or Liquor Production plants at either Mount Joy or Lititz, PA facility of Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate. The focus is to be on safety, process efficiency, process improvement, customer solutions, and personnel development.
35% Optimize production equipment, processes, perform tests, work on innovations and execute small projects. Recommends and implements operating efficiencies within production area. Drives solutions, product quality and food safety.
20% Perform problem solving and work in “cross functional” teams.
15% Ensures proper maintenance of equipment by overseeing/coordinating of the maintenance activities with respect to production.
10% Ensures all Cargill rules and policies are followed (safety, environmental, quality, sanitation and ethics)
10% Responsible for staffing, training, coaching, daily direct supervision of employees and manages the corrective action processes. Builds employee engagement through fostering positive working relationships and promoting an enthusiastic/open atmosphere for employees to offer ideas.
10% Review and prepare paperwork, data, production reports, timecards/vacation schedules, and ensures proper scheduling of raw materials and finished goods
BS Degree and 1+ year Manufacturing Supervisory experience
Demonstrated leadership skills: drives tasks to completion with desired results, builds a cohesive team
Demonstrated coaching skills
Good oral, verbal, written and listening communication skills
Demonstrated ability to multi-task, handle projects, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
Knowledge of EHS policies, OSHA regulations, HACCP, GMP’s
Knowledge of operational procedures and policies
Demonstrated ability to prioritize with a keen sense of urgency and take appropriate actions
Ability to perform routine physical activities including standing and walking for several hours at a time, keyboarding, climbing, lifting approximately 55 lbs. periodically.
BS Degree in Engineering with 5+ years experience
Supervisory experience in a food manufacturing facility
Knowledge of the manufacturing of chocolate & confectionary products
Knowledge of HR policies including Diversity, FMLA, Attendance, Plant Rules
Knowledge of SAP , ISO 9001, ISO 22000
Project Management experience
