This position requires a Registered Nurse with critical care experience.
Develop, implement, evaluate and revise in-service training, workshops and continuing education offerings having to do with resuscitation related topics including ACLS, PALS and BLS within the Children's Hospital and surrounding community. Help to assure quality of resuscitation response by monitoring resuscitation outcomes specific to children. Serve as a resource person, consultant and liaison to the VUMC community. Represent the Children's Hospital resuscitation program on hospital committees and/or task forces as needed.
Key Functions and Expected Performances:
Develops, implements, presents, evaluates and revises programs related to resuscitation education in orientation, in-services, formal classes, and continuing education for employees within Vanderbilt Medical Center and the surrounding counties.
Makes budget recommendations for equipment, educational events, and other purchases.
Works with medical and administrative staff to operationalize the mission, strategic plan, resource allocation, and policies for the resuscitation program. Collaborates with central nursing education department on enterprise wide initiatives.
Manages multiple projects/work activities and maintains alignment with strategic plan.
Communication and Teamwork
Available to teach course offerings and supports other staff during course coordination and delivery.
Serves as technical expert resource for any hospital project(s) related to emergency resuscitation as requested
Develops an environment of trust, fairness, consistency and confidentiality with internal and external customers.
Shares knowledge and collaborates across disciplines. Communicates effectively orally and in writing. Advocates for staff education/development needs to the Administrative team.
Utilizes and models Credo behaviors to build relationships and manage conflict within scope of responsibility. Identifies service recovery strategies that preserve individual dignity.
Coordinates, teaches and monitors faculty used in teaching Advanced Life Support resuscitation courses. Develops instructors using the most current educational principles
Recruits, supports, and mentors instructors to maintain adequate number of instructors to meet the training needs of Vanderbilt Medical Center
When in hospital environment, respond to and participate in hospital emergency STAT calls. Serve as a resource for and follow up with any problems related to the STAT calls.
Serves as a consultant and resource for committees to address system problems/issues and facilitate information exchange.
Clinical Quality Accountability
Act as a consultant and liaison with staff and leadership to promote agreed upon Resuscitation standards.
Supports quality assurance during resuscitation efforts.
Remains current with knowledge of professional literature related to Resuscitation standards and technical advancements.
Maintains high level of adherence to the requirements, recommendations and guidelines of the American Heart Association while teaching American Heart Association courses and while responding to STAT related calls.
Evaluates emergency STAT data, identifies clinical quality improvement needs based on findings, and collaborates with team members to design and implement improvements.
Job requires Graduate of an accredited nursing program and 2 years of experience critical care nursing experience. Pediatrics experience preferred
