The Specialized Entitlement Team within the Department of Housing and Human Services (DHHS) is looking to hire an 87.5% FTE (35 hours per week) Legal Technician A (LT2). Legal Technician A is a journey level classification in the Human Services Legal Technician series. This particular Legal Technician A will perform non-routine and complex technical legal duties for the Specialized Entitlement Team. The primary focus of this team is to generate state and federal revenue for the county on behalf of our child welfare clients. Areas of work will include initial and ongoing Title IV-E eligibility, Maintenance of Effort (MOE) eligibility, adoption subsidy eligibility, and a variety of program training and outreach to colleagues.

Examples of Duties:

1. Gather extensive Child Welfare case information in order to determine Title IV-E and MOE program eligibility in a timely manner to ensure maximum funding to Boulder County.
2. Conduct child protection and court related research in judicial systems, State databases and in collaboration with other jurisdictions and partner agencies.
3. Prepare complex state and federal legal documents for child welfare cases and follow-up on additional required document processing.
4. Review existing court orders and legal documents and exercise professional judgment in next step case processing.
5. Complex data entry through multiple county and state computer systems requiring detailed, specific program knowledge.
6. Provides backup assistance for other co-workers as required.
7. Performs related work as required.

Required Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: One (1) year of administrative support experience including performing eligibility determination, legal support work, or related work is required.

Two (2) years of administrative support experience including one (1) year performing eligibility determination, legal support work, or related work is preferred.

Additional education may apply toward the required experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: A high-level work ethic, the capacity to work independently, a strong sense of accountability, excellent prioritization skills and the ability to adhere to a firm weekly work schedule are all required. Applicants must be skilled in using computer applications including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel. Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills required. Ability to work effectively with other employees, clients, agencies and the public is a must.
