The Engineering Manager demonstrates leadership in the direction of technical resources. He/She will lead a team of project engineers providing work assignments, training, and evaluations. The Engineering Manager will work closely with several Engineering Leaders to determine appropriate assignments for team members. Essential Responsibilities
HR Reporting responsibilities including performance appraisals, improvement plans, Hiring / Exit, process
Compiles and executes hiring plans to assure staffing is appropriate to meet business needs
Manage and execute training budgets
Be responsible for execution to schedule for customer projects including on-time and on-budget
Staffing levels of properly trained resources to match business needs
Achieve applied time targets for entire team
Work with Engineering Leaders to set expectations on productivity standards
Work with Engineering Leaders to meet or exceed productivity metrics
Management of leased worker staffing levels to meet the requirements of the business
Drive Quality (QMS / ISO) and assures compliance for entire team
Tactical planning and matching of resources to available assignments
Financial evaluation of project execution to determine improvement opportunities
Management of infrastructure, roof tops, engineering specific office equipment
Professional Engineering / COA compliance and appropriate staffing certification for projects
Developing customer stand-in “Engineering Leader”
Contractor technical qualification for purchased services
EHS compliance for self and team including training, PPE, and certifications Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Minimum 5 years experience in Utility or the Transmission and Distribution Industry

Excellent computer skills, including automation tools, and familiarity with CAD software
Prior GE Experience
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Six Sigma Black Belt certification
EIT or PE license in United States
Good understanding of safety, operating, maintenance, and testing practices common to utility substations, transmission, and generation facilities
Utility field testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting experience
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a matrix environment
Proven leadership and ability to orchestrate resources and motivate teams
Strong business acumen, fully understands the mission and scope of business
Good presence in front of customer with demonstrated commercial experience
Strong problem solving abilities
Ability to work to tight deadlines and cope under pressure
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
