Blackbird Technologies, Inc. is seeking a motivated individual to join our technical team in St. Petersburg, FL as a Senior Windows Administrator. The Senior Windows Administrator will be responsible for supporting various local area networks and also serving as the technical team lead. The successful candidate will apply innovative approaches and creative problem solving to a wide variety of challenges within an R&D environment. Solid, consistent leadership, time and resource management and the ability to communicate with a diverse group are vital this position.
The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Providing planning, guidance, project estimates, and reports in support of customer requirements
Introducing innovative technologies including, but not limited to:
o office automation
o systems design
o large data management
o large data visualization
o information sharing and collaboration
Monitoring day-to-day functionality of networks and servers.
Analyzing and resolving problems associated with the operating system's servers, clients, hardware, and software
Monitoring system performance and ensuring compliance with security standards
Effectively communicating with a customer that has a rudimentary knowledge of IT system capabilities, limitations and constraints
Other responsibilities as needed/requested
Required Skills/Education:
US Citizenship
TS with SCI eligibility
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field (two years of related work experience may be substituted for each year of degree level education)
6+ years of professional experience in Windows System Administration
Demonstrated ability to lead a team of IT professionals, define problems, develop solutions based upon client requirements, perform mission analysis and pursue a solution with minimal supervision
Exposure to the Hadoop ecosystem (Hadoop, HDFS, Pig, Hive, Cascalog, etc)
Experience working within a fast-paced team atmosphere, as well as possessing the knowledge to be able to perform individually
Must present a professional demeanor and be goal-oriented toward exceeding customer expectations and corporate targets
Demonstrated experience with the following:
o Single forest, multi-domain Windows Server 2008 R2 Active Directory experience
o Group policy creation/configuration
o Computer image baseline maintenance
o Central patch management and distribution
o Microsoft Exchange Server 2010
o Windows 7 and XP administration
o License Management
Must have knowledge of networking principles and protocols
Experience testing and evaluating fielded implementations
Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Must present a polished and professional attitude and demeanor
Desired Skills/Education:
Military leadership experience
Experience with Linux OS and related products (Ubuntu, CentOS, Zimbra, LibreOffice, Samba)
