SOUTHERN RESEARCH INSTITUTE is seeking outstanding virologists, bacteriologists, and microbiologists to join our Drug Discovery Division. The Division uses an interdisciplinary approach to translate basic research into FDA-approved drugs. We are particularly interested in attracting scientists with outstanding research programs investigating any aspect of microbial infectious disease with translational potential toward the identification or characterization of therapeutic targets. Candidates with an interest in collaboration with medicinal chemists, biochemists, the high-throughput screening center, and others at SRI are particularly encouraged to apply. Internal funds are available to facilitate the development of drug discovery projects. To be considered, applicants must possess a Ph.D. in virology, bacteriology, microbiology, or related discipline with infectious disease research experience, and the successful candidate should have an externally funded grant-based research program. This position is equivalent in rank to an Associate or Full Professor in an academic institution. Transitional funding and technical support will be available. Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a 1-2 page description of prior research experience, and a description of future research goals.
