Key Responsibilities:
·

Participate in all phases of embedded electronic hardware development:

·

Specification / Tech profile creation and requirements management over the entire product development cycle

·

Engaged in all aspects of product development: electrical, mechanical, low level software and environmental.

·

Applies Cummins Engineering Standard Work (ESW) and architectural standards.

·

Detailed circuit design,

layout and analysis

·

Prototype build activities: material procurement, assist with builds, prototype test & debug

·

Design validation test planning & execution

·

Integrate electronic hardware with software and engine / vehicle system.

·

Six Sigma experience a plus:
DMAIC,

DFSS and TDFSS tools and methods

Electronics Hardware development workflow, methods, tools and documentation

Hardware/Requirements configuration management practices, methods, and tools

Project management practices, methods, and tools

Experience and Education:
Must have:
·

Experience developing embedded electronic hardware products for automotive, commercial vehicle, construction, agriculture or industrial equipment markets.

·

Experience writing technical documents: product specs, component specs, test plans, test reports, etc.

·

Detailed circuit design & analysis: Analog, Digital and Power circuitry

·

Schematic capture with EDA tools such as Zuken, Mentor Graphics, Orcad, Cadence, etc.

·

Circuit analysis utilizing tools such as Pspice, MathCAD, Excel, etc.

·

Familiar with circuit analysis techniques such as: worst-case stack-up, monte-carlo, thermal impedance modeling,

signal integrity, etc.

·

Application of 8-32 bit microcontrollers (Freescale, Infineon, Renases, ST micro, TI, etc.)

·

Familiarity with circuit board layout process.

·

Experience with prototype build process.

·

Experience with product validation planning and execution.

·

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to provide timely, concise and accurate reports and presentations.

·

Knowledgeable of industry standard practices such as FMEA, FMET, APQP and PPAP.

·

Familiar with electronics manufacturing and supply chain practices.

Preferred:
·

Familiarity with software development process

·

Familiarity with engine & vehicle systems

·

Familiarity with Connector & Mechanical packaging requirements for Electronics

·

Familiarity with Electromagnetic Compliance (EMC) design practices and testing

·

Working knowledge of industry / government certification requirements: UL, CSA, RoHS, CISPR, ISO, IEC, etc.

·

Experience working with high volume production manufactures of electronic assemblies (OEM or contract manufacturers)

·

Problem solving experience utilizing techniques such as: 7-step, 8-D, Fault Tree Analysis, etc.

·

Experience developing & using databases (Team Center, MS-Access, etc.)

·

Experience with product configuration management

·

Experience with design for manufacturing and test practices.

·

Familiar with manufacturing test processes

Impact

:

Individual will have a direct impact on the success of one or more concurrent new product introduction initiatives.

Communication

: Individual will be frequently communicating with: Cummins global design centers (India & China), external design and test service suppliers, component vendors, contract manufacturers, and

product customers (internal and external to Cummins).

Innovation

:

Position directly engaged in the creation of new products & IP for Cummins.

Individual will be regularly engaged in invention disclosure process

Knowledge

:

BSEE + 4-7 years experience or MSEE + 2-5 years experience

(

Breadth:
Position has a global reach (US, India, China, etc.), with cross BU interaction (EBU, CPG, CBU)

Team:
Individual will take direction from Design Team Leader, but will be responsible for managing project specific deliverables from other resources: component engineering, mechanical engineering, India design center, external test facilities, etc.

Compensation: Base salary commensurate with experience plus bonus.
