Responsible for planning, directing and administering the day-to-day accounting functions, and managing the accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets and general ledger functions. Responsible for oversight of monthly consolidated financial statement preparation for ESGW and ESHS. Coordination of all financial audits. Responsible to assess current accounting operations, and lead the team and organization through process improvement initiatives. Maintains an adequate system of internal control to safeguard the organization’s property while adhering to Board policies. Responsible for assisting with the preparation and monitoring the overall company budget. Supervises accounting staff to ensure a continuous flow of information that promotes accuracy and efficiency within the department and produce timely reports to management.

  • Financial Statements
  • Monitors accounting data to ensure proper recording of all income, expenses, assets and liabilities.
  • Presents financial statements to CFO on a timely basis.
  • Creates or approves all balance sheet reconciliations in a variety of areas such as bank accounts, payroll and payroll tax accruals, prepaid expenses and fixed assets.
  • Operation
  • Reviews systems and procedures of accounting operations and revises accordingly.
  • Updates and maintains bank file records for the audit.
  • In charge of all aspects of the annual financial audit.
  • Monitors cash flow needs and with CFO, coordinate moving short-term investments into and out of the main operating bank account as needed for operations.
  • Develops systems and procedures for new departments in conjunction with the AVP Accounting and CFO.
  • Creates ad hoc reports and other miscellaneous reporting requirements of management.
  • Cash Management
  • Ensures all deposits are made on a timely basis.
  • Invests idle cash in safe but liquid investments.
  • Ensures minimum usage of line of credit to keep interest expense as low as possible.
  • Maintains positive relationships with the financial community.
  • Assures that the cash and investment needs of the organization are met and its fiscal credibility maintained.
  • Audits
  • Coordinates annual financial audits to insure that the audits proceed smoothly & in a timely manner, with a minimum of adjusting entries

  • Required Experience QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Masters preferred.
    • Five years general non-profit accounting experience. Prefer at least three years experience in a supervisory role. CPA preferred.
    • Understand tax laws and other federal and state compliance laws.
    • High-level knowledge of accounting functions and their interaction: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Payroll.
    • Proficient in computer operations. Proficient in Excel.
    • Experience in extracting data from various databases and analyzing data with Microsoft Excel and Access.
    • Knowledge of the budget process including operational, capital and cash flow budgets.
    • Knowledge of and experience with financial analysis performance indicators, variance analysis, cost analysis and budget monitoring.
    Ability to move independently or with reasonable accommodation within the facility and community.
