Support FAA Data Communications operational benefits modeling by leading a team of analysts using computer science and systems knowledge, concepts, and techniques to develop and apply airport and en route operations models. In this team environment, develop alternative approaches to evaluation techniques and recommend optimum solutions involving data communications capabilities. Interact with aircraft operator and air traffic controller stakeholders to refine and validate models. Participate in the planning and successful execution of the work program. Report results and progress regularly to FAA and Noblis management, and guide and mentor team staff. Some domestic travel required for site visits.
You must possess a BS degree in Engineering, Math or Science, with an MS preferred, and should have strong technical knowledge and a minimum of 10 years working experience in air transportation systems and air traffic operations. The candidate must be a strong team leader -- will have responsibility in working directly with air traffic controllers, airlines, FAA managers and technical staff. The successful candidate will possess broad working knowledge of decision support tools, metrics collection and processing, business case analysis, experimental design, agile development, statistical analysis along with knowledge of air traffic modeling and simulation tools such as TAAM. The position will require working closely with clients and other contractors, as well as developing briefings and written reports – the candidate must therefore possess good written and oral communication skills and have strong interpersonal skills for customer interaction.
