Responsible for providing expertise and direction to ensure OGE's operations meet the stated objectives and requirements of the Corporation as related to power generation wholesale activities including: procurement and management of fuel and related transportation and storage, Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) Market rule making and participation, wholesale power contracts including joint owned units, and related state and federal regulatory causes.
Performs analysis and provides guidance and recommendations in support of market operations, fuel procurement, and regulatory causes to include: Hourly generation analysis, contract performance and risk assessment, unit performance metrics.
Performs research and analysis needed to interpret, guide, and develop testimony and data request responses.
Coordinates, researches, develops, and delivers regulatory reporting to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Oklahoma Corporate Commission (OCC), Arkansas Public Service Commission (APSC), Energy Information Administration (EIA) and other governmental agencies.
Ensures accurate and timely administration of Long Term Purchased Power Contracts.
Presents OGE position and votes on behalf of OGE at various Southwest Power Pool (SPP) RTO Market Working Groups and task forces.
Participates in and facilitates cross training with other professionals across functional areas within the in (Generation Planning and Control (GPC) and across the organization.
Mentors less experienced Coordinators and other GPC team members.
Act in a liaison capacity for GPC with other departments, divisions, and organizations.
Solves problems and develops solutions that require original approach, based on thorough and comprehensive research and technical expertise.
Office work using computers.
May be required to work non-standard work schedules including weekends and holidays.
May require travel.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Law Degree (JD) combined with 5 years of experience within one or more of the following four areas: utility generator operations, state regulatory commission processes related to utility power generation, RTO power markets, and long-term wholesale purchase power agreements OR Bachelor’s Degree in Technical or Business Field (e.g., Chemistry, Physics, Management Information Systems, Finance, Accounting ) combined with 7 years of experience within one or more of the following four areas: utility generator operations, state regulatory commission processes related to utility power generation, RTO power markets, and long-term wholesale purchase power agreements
Demonstrated strong business acumen and ability to interpret and apply federal and state regulations and rules into company business plans and actions.
Strong knowledge of FERC, SPP, OCC, and APSC rules related to generation operation, RTO markets, and fuel procurement.
Ability to understand and focus on operational and tactical aspects of the business as they relate to generator operations, fuel procurement, and SPP RTO market.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information and material with the highest degree of professional responsibility.
Ability to serve as a resource in a multi-functional environment.
