Maintenance Supervisor--Berlin, WI
This is an exempt level position.
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for execution of the daily work schedule and managing the hourly maintenance tradesmen.
This position assists in troubleshooting equipment problems, assigning jobs to specific tradesmen, ensuring safe work practices are followed, and arranging for overtime coverage as needed.
The Maintenance Supervisor will ensure hourly tradesmen adhere to all company policies and procedures using positive feedback when possible and discipline when necessary.
When unplanned breakdowns occur, the supervisor will reassign the workforce as needed to maximize production capacity.
Safety toolbox talks are given daily, attendance issues are coordinated, and development of personnel is ongoing.
EDUCATION OR TRAINING PREFERRED:
High School Diploma/GED with years of on the job training
Technical Certification or two year degree
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
5 years minimum as a mechanic or other technical tradesman
Experience leading a team of people
Experience with deisel mechanic work, heavy duty trucks, and/or implementation equipment
Able to read technical manuals/blueprints
Good people skills
Mechanical, welding, fabrication
Job Hazard Analysis and safety compliance
Computer proficiency (Microsoft office, CMMS, email, etc.)
Ability to train others
Ability to work any shift, weekends, holidays to support 24/7 operations
SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES:
Executes maintenance plans according to the work schedule.
Ensures the safety of all personnel through compliance with occupational safety and health regulations.
Provides employees with resources, in good working order, to safely do a job and provides necessary training needed to properly operate or wear personal protective equipment.
Recognizes environmental, safety, and GMP hazards and takes actions to insure the hazards are eliminated so as not to affect employee safety, product quality and environmental purity.
Addresses employee concerns and maintains good communications and morale on shift and within department.
Works with employees to develop a high level of job proficiency. Analyze maintenance performance and work to improve efficiencies.
Provides positive reinforcement when employees are observed producing good results and safe performance.
Maintains discipline within the shift and documents unusual or unacceptable behaviors for the department manager.
Responsible for development of maintenance employees in assigned areas.
Proactively engage in the development & training of hourly labor. Provides management of employees directly to ensure effective selection, retention, development, disciplinary action and performance management.
Strong troubleshooting skills, able to drive to root cause using RCA methodology.
Utilizes mechanical and electrical expertise to maintain production systems, utilities, buildings and grounds.
Use a computerized maintenance management system (Maximo) to optimize asset utilization through scheduled preventative maintenance.
Remains current with latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to mechanical and electrical systems design and operation.
Ensures corporate policies and standards are followed in the execution of daily maintenance activities.
Supervise preventive maintenance schedules, inspections and repairs to minimize down time.
Assemble and submit accurate daily, weekly and other deliverable reports; ensure achievement of all area/shift KPIs.
Keep Maintenance Manager informed and coordinate with Planners and Scheduler concerning the execution of maintenance and repair work schedules
Work from prints, diagrams, specification, and instructions covering emergency and scheduled repairs.
Obtain materials as needed for emergency work.
Maintain documentation and identify cost saving ideas.
Must be able to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis.
Prolonged standing and frequent bending, stooping, walking, and reaching on a daily basis
Requires a full range of physical motion in order to operate manual and electrically-powered tools and electrical test equipment, to move throughout the facility, including climbing stairs in all buildings, and to work at heights.
Work is performed indoors and out-of-doors year round, occasionally in environments that are dusty, noisy, or which could have work hazards.
The scope of the position requires exposure to and use of chemicals, solvents, and cleaners common to mechanical work that may be hazardous and/or cause injury if specific instructions regarding their mixture, use, and disposal/storage are not properly followed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
