Successful candidate will have front line responsibility for identifying non-standard replacement parts on all vintages of Trane and American Standard HVAC equipment. Work is performed in an engineering environment using historical records, engineering drawings, engineering bill of material systems, and Trane software applications. Work involves telephone contact with internal and external customers.
This is an entry-level position for individuals who meet the minimum required education and experience levels and who are willing to grow in a technical or customer service career path.
Most assignments are performed under supervision with normal checks on procedures and accuracy. In new tasks, work is performed under close direction of the supervisor and/or a more experienced parts identifier. On-the-job training is provided, but achieving understanding and completing the training in these areas is a high priority. Position requires flexibility to work variable hours between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Respond professionally and courteously to all customer parts identification inquiries.
Problem solve, on the telephone, under pressure situations.
Work within Trane organizations to obtain parts identification support necessary to provide timely response to customers.
Work effectively with other Global Parts departments to resolve parts identification issues.
Participate on team projects as assigned by the manager/team leader.
Work in a technical customer service environment using computer tools and product knowledge.
Exhibit skills to quickly and efficiently view parts lists, part numbers, part attributes, bills of material, and engineering change orders using existing Trane business systems.
Prioritize incoming requests by level of urgency.
Other duties as assigned by supervision/management
Associate's or technical degree in mechanical design, industrial engineering, industrial electronics, air conditioning and refrigeration technology, quality assurance, or various combinations of technical education from an accredited technical school desired. Equivalent education in the fields of business administration, customer service, or a similar related discipline or 1-2 years equivalent education/experience related to parts documentation/administration or customer service will be considered.
Strong customer service focus and ability to work in a fast-paced environment required.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required, with the ability to function independently as well as in a team environment with both internal and external customers.
Strong verbal (telephone) and written communication skills required.
MS Office experience and typing skills required.
Must have a strong technical and mechanical aptitude with ability to implement an analytical approach to solving problems.
Ability to be empathetic and positive when solving customer problems under pressure conditions required.
Above average organizational skills and follow-up capability required.
Must be able to sense urgency of customer requests.
Ability and desire to work in a team environment required.
Strong aptitude and willingness to learn.
Produces accurate work of a high quality and quantity with ability to detect and correct errors.
Familiarity with HVAC equipment, bill of material systems and engineering drawings and/or knowledge of or experience working in an HVAC environment is a plus.
