Pioneer Human Services currently has an Employment Specialist opportunity with an emphasis on our Client Services and Classroom Facilitation. This opportunity is a full-time regular position.
Pioneer Human Services (PHS) is a nationally recognized statewide non-profit organization with over 50 locations providing an integrated array of services to include employment and training, chemical dependency treatment, mental health counseling and corrections services.
The incumbent will be responsible for providing quality classroom facilitation, monitoring and evaluating student progress, and will also provide direct client services in the areas of employment counseling, client needs assessment, vocational assessments, employment preparation, and training. Must also be knowledgeable on best practices, focused on continual quality improvement, and invested in the Pioneer Human Services organization.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
•Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred with AAS required
•4 years’ experience in the employment and training, criminal justice and/or social services field
•Case management skills to include interviewing, counseling and creating Individual Employment Plans
•Microsoft Office Computer skills proficiency required
•Demonstrated experience working and/or willing to work with formerly incarcerated person and/or persons who receive or have participated in mental health and/or drug/alcohol treatment.
•Demonstrated experience in classroom facilitator for all phases of job search readiness and soft skills curriculum with the ability to manage classroom attendees with a wide range of needs to achieve established outcomes and demonstrate proficiencies
•Demonstrated experience Interviewing, advising, and guiding a diverse population of clients to achieve employability
•Ability to interpret and explain regulations, rules, policies, and procedures to clients
•Experience screening clients for eligibility for services, benefits and program responsibilities
•Excellent written and presentation skills
•Experience identifying client problems and barriers that hinder employability, identifying the need for other services, benefits and training.
•Counsels clients regarding recommended solutions and suggested supportive services and makes appropriate referrals to community resources
•Develops and maintains cooperative relationships with employers, academic and vocational training institutions, support service and community resource agencies
•Experience and ability to identify appropriate job placement/training opportunities for clients
•Knowledge of the local job market and opportunities to assist in providing guidance to clients
•Demonstrated experience developing and presenting information at Job Fairs, workshops and other related events
•Develops and maintains all records and data bases pertinent to assigned clients
