Noramco, Inc., a member of the Johnson & Johnson family of companies, is currently recruiting for a DEA Specialist located in Wilmington, DE.

Noramco, Inc. produces a variety of active pharmaceutical ingredients and is a major worldwide producer of medicinal analgesics, pharmaceutical intermediates and synthetic fine organic chemicals. It also produces monomers and polymers for pharmaceutical and medical devices.

The DEA Specialist will provide technical support by interpreting federal and local Controlled Substance regulations (CSA) as they apply to site processes, practices and procedures. This individual will compile inventory information from various departments to complete DEA reports (ARCOS, opiate, import/export, biennial and yearend); compile data to support monthly department metrics and participate in local DEA site inspections. The DEA Specialist will monitor lab inventory and disposals to ensure compliance; participate in Controlled Substance Compliance regulatory audits; review, separate and distribute DEA 222 forms on a monthly basis. This individual will complete import/export permit requests; perform site walk-through tours to verify compliance; and initiate Trackwise investigations when non-compliance is identified. The DEA Specialist will collect required information and payment for State Licensing Program, and liaison with third party state licensing company to ensure renewals are done on time.

The DEA Specialist assists other departments in understanding and complying with DEA reporting needs, and successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements. This individual understands and responsibly performs duties with attention to quality, safety and environmental matters, including wearing appropriate personal equipment, recognizing, reporting and appropriately responding to hazards in the work area (spills/accidents/near misses), maintaining proper housekeeping at all times, properly labeling and storing chemicals, plus all other relevant job requirements. The DEA Specialist carries out duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines including FDA, EPA, OSHA and DEA, and complies with all company and site policies and procedures. He/she makes a positive contribution as demonstrated by: making suggestions for improvement, providing overtime as needed, and learning new skills, procedures and processes. This individual should be available for other duties as required, and remain current in skills and industry trends. The DEA Specialist may assume responsibilities for the CSC Compliance Manager when needed and may supervise a casual part-time employee or third-party contractor or Co-op student.

Qualifications

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and at least two years experience is required. Bachelor's degree is preferred. Work experience in either the pharmaceutical or chemical industry is required. Experience in working with the DEA is preferred. Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Experience in writing SOP's is required. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, regulatory agencies and the general public is preferred. Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as rate, ratio, percentages and fractions as well as draw or interpret bar graphs. Must have experience in using word processing and mathematical software programs, customizing them to meet business needs. Experience with Microsoft Excel and SAP is also required. This position will be based in Wilimington, DE.
