Arkansas Tech University seeks an individual to serve as an Assistant Professor of Animal Science. This is a nine-month, tenure track appointment, beginning in August, 2012. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in Animal Science, serve as an academic advisor, develop curricula, assist in recruiting, work closely with area agri-businesses and producers, engage in scholarly activity, and provide professional community, departmental, and university service. Other duties include overseeing the health care program of all university farm livestock. Opportunities exist for development of research initiatives in areas of expertise and summer teaching.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Animal Science, DVM or closely related field. Teaching experience, excellent speaking and public relation skills, desire to be an integral part of the Agriculture Department, and demonstrate expertise and commitment to mentoring all students. Preferred qualifications include: excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrate an interest in advising student organizations, interest in teaching a variety of courses such as livestock reproduction, poultry management, and animal nutrition, experience with teaching online courses.
