The mission of the National Center for Biomedical Research and Training (NCBRT) is to help America prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from acts of domestic and international terrorism, weapons of mass destruction and high-consequence events through teaching, training, technical assistance, and research. The IT/eLearning Computer Analyst for eLearning is an important part of a team that supports this mission. This position will provide technical expertise and support to the NCBRT eLearning Program Manager, especially in matters of customer service and technical assistance in support of the NCBRT mission. This position is responsible for assisting with help desk support functions and providing high quality customer service to the NCBRT. Desktop support includes, but is not limited to, hardware and software inventory management, desktop support calls, network troubleshooting, and new hardware/software installation. Desktop Support: performs help desk duties including, but not limited to, recording service calls, maintenance activities, equipment and software inventory; trouble reports; calls to vendors, basic network troubleshooting; new hardware/software installation; provide assistance and technical information on a wide variety of software and hardware applications. Network Support: assists with basic and initial support of NCBRT servers including domain controllers, file and print, web, email, management and database; assists with monitoring network activity using established test procedures; assists with maintenance and monitoring of audio and video conferencing technologies. Travel: travels in support of the mission of NCBRT; travel may be required occasionally during a given period of time.
Bachelor's degree for both Computer Analyst 1 and 2 levels; for Computer Analyst 2 position, applicant must also have two years of professional level experience in systems, database, or network enterprise system support (hardware or software level); both levels require strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent customer service skills; a positive attitude; a strong problem-solving ability; the ability to work independently; knowledge of some best practice standards with the following issues is desired: Internet security issues; common software failures; common Internet protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, SMTP, etc.).
Must be a US Citizen or lawful permanent resident.
Knowledge and experience with the following: Windows 7; Virus, spyware, and ad aware software and removal techniques; Office 2010; managing users, computers, and printers in an active directory environment; computer hardware components; basic networking concepts; documentation; help desk ticket systems.
