Programmer located in our Vermont office, reporting to the Manager of Programming in VT, and contributes to company profitability and customer satisfaction by developing, implementing, and maintaining software applications, and providing technical expertise to internal and external team members.
a) Interacts with sales, marketing, and client service representatives to understand new software product requirements.
b) Translates Product Description Documents, Interface Descriptions, Specifications, and other documentation into detailed design.
c) Carries out coding.
d) Performs initial development testing to ensure functional and performance requirements will be met.
e) Documents functional changes, settings changes, and user interface changes in Version Description Documents and Change Logs.
f) Completes configuration management requirements for source code, executables, and documentation.
g) Determines test requirements for each release and documents them in Test Requirements Documents.
h) Enters tests in the QC Tracker tool and designs and enters test points as required.
i) Prepares training information and trains client service and support personnel on new products and product changes.
j) Assists Client Service Representatives in investigating and resolving customer complaints as required, and in investigating and documenting product deficiencies.
k) Strives to expand job knowledge by researching new technologies and software products; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations.
BS degree in Computer Science or related field, or significant software development experience including detailed design and coding, preferably in an object-oriented language.
Knowledge in any of the following areas is desired:
a) SQL (MySQL, SQLite), Pascal (Delphi), C#, C++, HTML, PHP
b) Graphic file processing (familiarity with PDF, TIFF, GIF, and other formats)
c) Encryption and Security Practices
d) Excellent problem solving skills
e) Ability to work productively in a dynamic environment with minimal supervision
f) Good interpersonal and communication skills
