Regular/Temporary: Regular Return to Previous Page Responsibilities Conduct independent field examinations of the books, records and collateral of existing and prospective commercial customers to verify the value and existence of the bank’s collateral, mitigate the risk of fraud, assess the company’s viability and determine additional measures to reduce risk and exposure and better position the bank in a worst case scenario. The Field Examiner II will be assigned to credits with moderate complexity and risk . Field Examiner II candidates have mastered the concepts and technical skills required of the Field Examiner I position and have demonstrated an ability to operate independent of on-site supervision making judgment calls regarding suspicious activity warranting additional work and time. The FE II will examine single and multiple division companies in a range of industries requiring more knowledge and stronger risk assessment skills. In addition, the FE II will be assigned prospect customers which have not been examined before and therefore require more independent thinking around approach and testing. Independently verify both the value and existence of collateral with a primary focus on accounts receivable and inventory, assess trends and recommend enhancements to reduce bank exposure.
Calculate A/R rollforward; A/R sales dilution; A/R, A/P and inventory turnovers; ineligible A/R and inventory collateral; collateral coverage; borrowing formula compliance; inventory reliance; and appropriate reserves including inventory obsolescence;
Estimate potential bad debt write-offs;
Select and generate sample populations lists to perform billing and shipping test, credit memo test, inventory count (based upon perpetual inventory system), cost and gross profit rollforward tests.
Utilize Excel, Word and data extraction software to perform and document testing and exam results, identifying unusual or suspicious/fraudulent activity that warrants further investigation or specific reserves to mitigate the risk. This requires the use of good judgment in the field based upon the circumstances at the company, the lending relationship, the industry and the perceived level of risk. Independently evaluate the reliability of internal reporting systems and the reports submitted to the bank.
Reconcile A/R and inventory to the General Ledger, financial statements and Borrowing Base Certificate;
Reconcile cash accounts and the loan to the General Ledger Prepare a independent comprehensive and concise written report that is distributed to RM’s, Divisions Exec’s and Credit Officers and accompany any approval package
Include an Executive Summary, highlighting the key examination issues, risks and recommendations most often related to collateral to mitigate risk to the bank. Disagreement with Medium and High FE recommendations requires credit approval and .at times higher business line approval in accordance with policy and the Credit Approval Framework.
Cite documentation exceptions and exceptions to the Commercial Credit Policy. Perform independent analyses to identify credit risks, trends and deteriorating situations.
Make formal recommendations which require a comprehensive understanding of the industry and structure to mitigate risk to the Bank (actions related to the current and future monitoring of the credit and collateral such as appropriate formula advance rates and reserves). Provide the onsite perspective to the overall credit(“eyes and ears of the lender”) ; provide a verbal report to the Loan Officer, Credit Officer and Examinations Manager; Interact with senior management of corporate customers and the bankPerform special projects as requested by credit and lending officers or the District or Group Examination Manager.This position could be located in Boston, MA, Manchester ,NH or Cranston, RI. Qualifications Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance requiredMaster's Degree or Pursuit of an MBA, CPA or equivalent preferredCFE; CFA Field Examiner School preferredIntermediate PC skills; good knowledge of Excel and Word.Strong analytical and organizational skills.Strong oral and written communication skill.Ability to work as a team player.Flexibility and willingness to travel both local and overnight. 4+ years experience with public accounting or asset based lending examinations preferred Hours and Work Schedule Hours per Week: 40
