The Senior Philanthropy Communications Specialist identifies and writes foundation, corporate, municipal, state and federal grant applications for various hospital initiatives for Women & Infants and Kent Hospital. The incumbent develops an in-depth knowledge of the hospitals’ activities and needs, establishes a network of donor prospects, researches the history and focus areas of particular funders, writes and edits grant applications, and stewards relationships with funders. The incumbent also develops strategic philanthropy-related marketing and communications initiatives, including developing communication materials such as newsletter articles, direct mail and web copy, and manages the photography, design and production of these products. The incumbent works with Philanthropy and Marketing-Communications staff to manage projects and to provide other writing and communication support to both hospitals as requested.

Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of related experience. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical and writing skills, and an ability to work with all levels of administration required. Experience in healthcare, journalism and communications highly desirable. Candidates must be computer proficient with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and experience with Blackbaud preferred.
