The Global IT Infrastructure & Operations organization is looking for an expert level Sr. Network Security Engineer Specialist to join our Global Network Security Operations team. As a member of the network security operations team, you will be responsible for the implementation of the latest CyberSecurity company project initiatives, deep level incident and escalation support, problem management resolution and changes to all security devices supporting HP IT’s critical infrastructure including Firewalls, IPS, Proxies and Partner Connectivity Solutions worldwide.

The responsibilities include:
Build and operation of large scale Network Security Infrastructure, including firewalls, IPS, VPN, proxy and business partner connections.

Work closely with the Cyber Security Incident management teams and Global Telecom support teams on mitigation efforts when required.

Assist with resolving production escalated incidents related to IPS, Proxy, VPNs, firewalls and partner connections worldwide in a 24x7x365 environment.

Ensure all move to production and support documentation for network security devices is complete and playbooks are updated as required.

Proactively ensure that all security deployed devices are being monitored and running at optimal performance.

Collaborate with engineering teams during new project implementations and ensure that the proposed designs are supportable by operations.

Ensure that all changes to security devices are well documented per standard procedures and executed without causing any disruption to the production environment.

Part of on-call rotation with other members of the team that provide deep level support assistance 24x7x365.

Provide training and mentoring to junior engineers on the team.

We would like for the candidates to be located in Houston (1


choice), Austin or Atlanta.


BA or BS degree in Computer Science or Information Systems with a focus on Information Security (preferred).

7+ years’ experience as a Network Security Engineer, with at least 3 years of related network security for a large organization.

In-depth working knowledge of Checkpoint Provider-1 architecture.

Experienced with deploying, maintaining and supporting Checkpoint UTM and Power-1 appliances running R65 VSX, R70.1, R75.40 firewalls running in transparent and routed mode configurations.

Experienced with Cisco firewalls including PIX, ASA, FWSMs and Cisco router ACLs.

Experience with router ACLs and performing firewall rule conversions across different vendor platforms. Experienced with implementing security policy changes on Cisco and Checkpoint firewalls.

Experience troubleshooting access issues across multiple firewalled isolated network compartments during application migrations.

Expert level knowledge with deployment and maintenance of Tipping Point Intrusion Prevention systems (IPS) infrastructure.

Experience with change management processes and procedures.

In-depth working knowledge on Proxy technologies Bluecoat.

Experience with Bluecoat Director Proxy and antivirus appliances.

Previous experience with VPNs, two-factor authentication

Previous experience with Web Filtering solutions with Bluecoat Proxy.
