SUMMARY: The primary function of this position is the surveillance of nosocomial infections and the collection and recording of pertinent data for statistical reporting and control purposes. Principal duty is to support the Director of the Infection Prevention & Control Department by assisted in all the duties that will be described below. Duties also involve acting as a resource consultant to patient care units and/or various departments in the appropriate techniques related to the treatment of all kinds of infections. Additionally, the Infection Preventionist assists with the education of all personnel by participating in orientations, mandatory annual programs and in-service programs, as directed.
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Medical Technology, Microbiology, Biology, or closely related field
Required License, Certification and/or Registration: N/A
Preferred License, Certification and/or Registration: R.N. license in state of Maryland , Certification Infection Control (C.I.C.) issued by the CBIC
Required Experience: A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in field of expertise (nursing, public health, lab, etc) or 1 year of experience in Infection Prevention & Control.
