These positions provide remote petrochemical/industrial security services required to preserve and protect life, the environment, and property.

At least five years of industrial security, law enforcement, or other specialized experience which is directly related to the technical needs of the particular opening.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
All Security Officers must successfully pass a Fitness for Duty examination (See Fitness for Duty Policy). Fit for Duty Review: A review process designed to assess an employee's ability, with or without a reasonable accommodation, to perform and/or safely perform the essential work tasks of his/her position. The review could include, but is not limited to; mandatory examinations and/or physicals, review of applicable medical documentation, or discussing the employee's ability to perform his/her job with appropriate medical providers. Reviews will be given to all applicants as part of the pre-hire process, and to employees as outlined in the policy.

Respond to fire alarms, emergencies, including physical altercations, and medical calls. Response may be in a vehicle or on foot.

Notifies appropriate parties, using the telephone and trunk radio system of emergencies as they occur.

Observes personnel for compliance with and enforces client’s regulations, rules, and policies.

Performs investigations and completes reports of incidents and accidents as assigned.

Personally monitors either visually or electronically a variety of assigned buildings, areas, or grounds.

Permits authorized or properly badged persons and visitors to enter property utilizing a list of those authorized access.

Records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, etc. Assists in properly responding to a variety of emergencies or disasters.

Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure. Warns violators of rule infractions and may apprehend or expel violators.

May issue and record ID badges. May check heating, lighting, sprinkling, security, ventilation, fire, etc., systems to make sure they are operational.

May operate vehicles for extended periods of time. May make arrangements for the transportation of employees and visitors to various areas of the site.

Certain positions may also be assigned such specialized duties as:

Patrolling the drill sites and pipelines in a pickup truck throughout the sprawling oil field for much of the 12 hours. Wildlife monitoring and hazing may be required. Personnel must be qualified with firearms and may receive additional training and permit authorization as Brown and/ or Polar bear hazards.

Performing typical dispatch duties.

Utility where incumbents perform many different duties such as vehicle transportation, airline arrangements, etc.

Communications where incumbents handle phones, radios, PA systems, alarms, etc.

Fuel Dock where various fuel services are provided.

Shuttle where various types of vehicle transportation services are performed.

May perform x-ray and screening of outgoing charter passengers at the Deadhorse airport.

May be required to operate traffic radar from our vehicles and issue citations as necessary.

Additional services may include such areas as patrol, camps, checkpoints, etc.

Other related duties may also be assigned.

Certain positions may also require incumbents to provide emergency medical technician services at various levels such as EMT I, EMT II, or EMT III. A candidate's EMT certification and the needs of the position will determine the placement level in this series. These may require the provision of such duties as providing emergency medical care, medical escort services, maintaining medical equipment, etc.

LEAD OFFICER: Certain positions may require a designated individual to provide direct line or on-the-job supervision of assigned security officers. This level requires incumbents to supervise, direct, and motivate assigned employees as well as to train and orientates new employees. It handles service and quality control issues for assigned area, evaluates employees, etc. To be qualified for this level, candidates must have at least three years minimum prior relevant experience of which at least one year was as a supervisor. Preference will be given to those with an appropriate knowledge of oil field procedures and practices.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma (or GED).

At least five years of security, law enforcement, or other specialized experience which is directly related to the technical needs of the particular opening. That experience must also have demonstrated the ability to operate independently in a structured environment.

A Class B, Commercial Drivers License with passenger endorsement and air brake endorsement or ability to obtain Class B CDL within timeframe set by hiring manager at time of hire. Successful applicants must provide three year proof of a driving record acceptable to the company's insurance carrier.

Preference will be given to those with cross cultural training.

Must be able to pass annual and random drug and alcohol screening tests. Must be able to work varied call-outs, return to the slope on recall status for emergency response purposes, serve on emergency response teams, etc.

Interpersonal skills sufficient to work well with other security personnel in a variety of job tasks and posts as well as with other contractor and client employees on a routine basis.

Certain positions may require: ACLS, BTLS, Medical Escort, etc. Qualification for and maintenance of certification as a Hazmat Technician, animal hazer, or other specialized certifications.

The ability to perform data entry functions, operate a PC, work with various software programs, general office skills, etc. Must be able to travel in all means of air and ground transportation commonly used in remote Alaska. Must be able to pass a background check, drug test and fit for duty test.

Background position ranking skill levels:
Language skills sufficient to:
1. Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 2. Write routine reports and correspondence. 3. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Math skills sufficient to

add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's including using these operations with units of American money and weight measurement, volume, or distance.

Reasoning abilities sufficient to:
1. Solve practical problems and sometimes require incumbents to handle a variety of variables. 2. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands:
These positions regularly require the employee to sit, walk, use hands, talk, and hear. They are frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and smell. They occasionally require the ability to stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Employees must be able to perform active physical tasks including assistance in emergency evacuation of injured personnel. Incumbents must be able to effectively respond to emergency situations. All incumbents must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Incumbents must have the physical stamina to work long days (up to 13.5 hours) and varying shifts including nights for extended periods of time as well as being able to work outdoors in harsh Arctic weather conditions. The specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes, and airborne particles. The noise level ranges from generally being quiet to occasionally being loud. Certain position may also have a risk for exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals as well as extreme heat.

 Carry: Carry 35 lbs with two hands for a minimum distance of 500 feet, self-paced. Allow a

60 minute rest break after 250 feet,

 Push: push horizontally with a peak force of 60 f-lbs with two hands,

 Pull: push horizontally with a peak force of 60 f-lbs with two hands,

 Stoop & Twist: Perform alternate cross over toe touches x 10 each side, self-paced but continuous,

 Squat Test: Functionally squat x 10, self-paced but continuous,

 Kneel: Kneel on one knee and stand. Return to kneel on opposite knee. Repeat alternate kneeling sequence x 5 for each knee, self-paced but continuous,

 Walk: Walk on a treadmill at 3 MPH for 20 minutes with good balance,

 Stairs: Climb up and down 10 steps x 8 for a total of 80 steps, self-paced. Allow 30 second rest after climbing up and down 50 steps,

 Stairs and Carry: Climb up and down 10 steps x 2 for a total of 20 steps while carrying 30 lbs in one hand and using the other hand to grasp a railing for safety, self-paced. Allow a 30 second rest period after climbing up and down 10 steps. .

 Slanted Ladder: Climb a slanted ladder with 8 rungs x 2 repetitions for a total of 16 rungs, self-paced but continuous.
