This position is located in the Crownpoint Healthcare Facility, Housekeeping/Security Department, Crownpoint, New Mexico. Please ensure you answer all questions and follow all instructions carefully. Errors or omissions may impact your rating or result in you losing consideration for the job.
Protects property and equipment against trespass theft fire, and accidental or willful damage and destruction. Monitors access to premises by verifying authorization using locally established badge and vehicle registration systems. Will drive an assigned government motor vehicle in the performance of duties. Monitors personnel access into restricted areas. Alerts supervisor of suspicious activities unauthorized entry, fires, or other hazards.
Ensures incident scene is preserved for Police investigators and provides written reports of finding concerning incident to the supervisor. Maintains an activity log to document shift activity. Assists motorist who become stranded at the facility. Pursues and detains persons fleeing a disturbance/incident or attempting to resist detainment. May perform one of more of the following duties performance of static guard post or patrol duties. Directs patient, visitors, vendors, and contractors to the appropriate office or clinic as needed.
Conducts periodic parcel, package, container and equipment checks following prescribed special procedures to ensure only authorized property is brought into or removed from the facility. Secured found drugs, weapons, or contraband until it can be released to the Police or appropriate law enforcement agency. Provides security during VIP visits. Escorts individuals to their POV's as needed.
Performs random spot checks for compliance with key control, supply, property and vehicle security regulations and directives. Maintains current information on lost and found logs. Notifies individuals when items reported as missing are located. Assists and gives courteous responses to any inquiries made by the patients, visitors or personnel.
Serves as a member of the Fire Response team, responds during External and Internal disasters and responds to code Blues (Medical Emergencies). Investigates incidents of unusual circumstances reported by Crownpoint Health Center personnel, visitors, physicians or patients and reports all incidents verbally or through general incident forms, by the end of each shift. BASIC QUALIFICATION: Candidate must have had 26 weeks of general experience and 26 weeks of specialized experience to qualify for the GS-04 level.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience such as administrative, technical, clerical, military, or other work that involved following written procedures, rules, or regulations in contacts with coworkers, supervisors, or members of the public to provide a service, respond to inquiries, or obtain information.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience such as work with a Federal, State, municipal, local or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trepass, or maintaining order and protecting life. Such experience must have provided knowledge of protective systems and techniques. Acceptable experience includes service in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis. For Security Guard positions in a hospital setting, experience as a psychiatric nursing assistant or similar position safeguarding patients is qualifying.
MOTOR VEHICLE INCIDENTAL OPERATOR REQUIREMENTS: Incidental operators are employees, other than those occupying a position officially classified as a motor vehicle operator, who are required to operate a Government-owned or leased motor vehicle to properly carry out their assigned duties. To qualify as an incidental operator, an employee must possess a valid State license, have a safe driving record, pass a road test and demonstrate that he or she is medically qualified to operate the appropriate motor vehicle safely.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The job involves lengthy periods of walking, standing and operating a motor vehicle. The incumbent climbs stairs and ladders, stoops, climbs or reaches into or under spaces, and runs short distance during emergency or pursuit actions. The incumbent pursues, subdues and holds criminal suspects. The incumbent is required to team-lift humans onto a wheelchair, stretcher, examination table and refrigerator tray.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Successfully completed study of two years above high school at an accredited college or university in any subject is qualifying. Successful completion of training in an accredited technical school, that covered subjects such as physical security procedures, local laws, or investigation techniques is also considered qualifying for specialized experience at the GS-04 level on a month-for-month basis.
INVESTIGATION OF FITNESS: A character investigation may be conducted on applicants selected for employment. The purpose of such an investigation is to secure evidence of the candidate's honesty, integrity, general character, and loyalty to the U.S. Government. Such investigations will be conducted under the security requirements of the hiring agency.
