Responsible for the creation, review and closure of corrective action items and related tracking practices, designed to aid in the exposure reduction process. Responsible for review and evaluation of current industry practices as they relate to Radiation Protection, which may include applicability reviews. In addition, accountable for establishing and tracking RP departmental goals in the areas of radiation exposure, radioactive material controls events, high radiation area events, event-free clock resets, other performance indicators and corrective action items, including establishing programs to monitor and improve performance in these areas. Responsible for identifying and recommending industry lessons learned, operating experiences, INPO good practices, etc., into RP procedures and practices. Responsible for independently ensuring that effective industry techniques, including lead shielding, flushing, robotics, etc., are established to reduce exposure in the radiologically posted areas. Will analyze/evaluate and trend departmental data to assist in the reduction of radiological exposures and drive for performance improvement within the radiation protection programs.

REQUIRED: As an engineer, BS Degree in a Science or Engineering and a minimum of 3-5 years related nuclear experience or equivalent education/experience in the field of operational Radiation Protection. Also needed is a thorough understanding of plant operations, systems, and an in-depth knowledge of Radiation Protection and ALARA fundamentals.
As a technical analyst, must possess a strong analytical background with the ability to trend/evaluate and interpret data for the use by others within the radiation protection department. Desirable to have a working knowledge of SAP/work management and the Corrective Action Program. The candidate must possess good oral and written communication skills, and be proficient in Microsoft computer applications. The candidate must meet PSEG Nuclear requirements for Unescorted Plant Access.

  • This is a multi-level position. The successful candidate will be evaluated/selected based on experience/education. If Non-degreed, selected candidate will be offered position as a technical analyst, grade level 6.
