Associate Director of Research: Manage research projects, including working with external and internal advisory committees, planning data collection and analysis, preparing written reports, and reviewing data analysis and reports. Represent the Center on Philanthropy and its work externally with the media and at conferences and meetings locally, nationally and as needed, internationally. Work to secure new projects, develop proposals, and prepare concept papers outlining research options for prospective clients and funders. Share research findings to incorporate into Center materials, including The Fund Raising School, Women’s Philanthropy Institute, and other Center publications and online outlets.

(50%) Managing Editor of Giving USA: Develop all aspects of the annual Giving USA report including data collection, analysis, writing, proofreading, page and PowerPoint layout, review, interpretation, and presentation materials in an electronic format suitable for distribution of the annual report on philanthropy for the United States. Coordinate marketing, sales, customer service and other functions to assure revenue generation and growth for Giving USA. Implement enhancements to Giving USA as determined by the sponsor and the Giving USA Advisory Council (external). Prepare three newsletters on varied topics selected by the sponsors during the year.

Assist with fundraising to support the work of the project. (50%) Qualifications: Masters degree required. Excellent analytical, written and oral communications skills, familiarity with computers and various software applications. Over 5 years expertise in field of nonprofit management and fundraising.

Ph.D. is preferred. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required: Demonstrated competence in data analysis, online technology, and the Internet. Knowledge of fundraising and the nonprofit sector and experience in working with donors, clients, and high profile constituents.

Strong communication, interpersonal and writing skills, ability to adapt writing style to difference audiences, project management and supervision skills, ability to meet deadlines within fast-paced, high-demand environment. Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Stata or other statistical software and Microsoft office. Experience in working with vendors. Mental demands: Detailed work.

Must be able to manage multiple concurrent tasks, stress confidentiality, problem solving and constant interruptions. Physical demands: Sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing, light lifting, and attendance.
